The St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce works to maintain a favorable business climate in St. Mary’s County by assisting in the development, growth and promotion of business.
The majority of businesses in St. Mary’s County, MD, will be active members of the Chamber of Commerce and will recognize material benefit from their membership. The Chamber will be recognized as the economic leadership organization for St. Mary’s County, MD.
Since the founding of St. Mary’s County in 1634, our county has experienced long periods of modest change punctuated by dramatic episodes of transforming events. To support the growth and development of the local economy, the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce was incorporated as a 501(c)(6) in 1974. The goals of the Chamber were, and still remain, to advance the economic, industrial, professional, cultural and civic welfare of the County; to encourage the growth of existing industries businesses, and organizations, and to provide assistance to new firms and individuals seeking to establish businesses.
The 450+ Chamber members support and contribute to the business and economic activity that makes St. Mary’s County a strong, vibrant, economic engine supporting the County’s citizens , the local business community, Naval Air Station Patuxent River, and the important, vital research and development activities at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) and the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). The Chamber truly represents small businesses as nearly 55% of our members have 15 or fewer employees.
