Before I was a business owner, I was administrative staff for my first “after college” position. I was told at that time that the Chamber of Commerce is a huge asset and resource to any small business. I had no idea what that meant, until of course, I became a business owner. My first year in business I immediately joined the Chamber of Commerce. I began going to the various networking events and meeting other business owners with like minds. I was new to St. Mary’s County and new not a single soul, but the business relationships that I established helped me, mentored me, introduced me to other networks and other Chambers, and thus my business grew exponentially. I received referrals and requests for quotes through the Chamber, I was one of few if not the only Photographer listed in the directory that went to all newcomers to the area. Since being a member, I can attest that not one other marketing tool as been able to bring such reward and return to my business. Not only is my business now well recognized within my community, but I established life-long friendships and mentors that will help me excel and grow.
